Randy F. Saar, 34, a North Scranton resident, died Sunday. He was the husband of the former Kelly Kearney. Born in Scranton, he was the son of Ronald and Rosemary Baas Saar, Scranton. He was a member of St. John Neumann Parish and was a graduate of Scranton High School. He attended Keystone College Culinary Arts Program. He was employed as a cook for The Stadium Club and Geisinger Hospital before becoming an independent contractor delivering bread for Bimbo Bakeries. Randy was an avid hunter and fisherman, was a fan of the Phillies and Eagles and NASCAR. Also surviving is a son Noah, at home, a sister Amy Engles and her son Tyler Saar, Scranton, paternal grandmother Clair Saar, Scranton, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and three other nephews, and his two best friends, Joseph Merrick and Gregory Boock. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Ralph Saar and maternal grandparents Matt and Kitty Corrigan Baas. The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 AM from the August J. Alice L. DeMario, 80, an Old Forge resident, died Friday at Hospice Of The Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore. Her husband is Ralph DeMario and the couple was married for 60 years. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret Reif Young. She was a 1953 graduate of St. Mary's High School, Scranton. She worked for R.J. Walker Co. and was retired from Mariotti Building Products. She was a longtime member of St. Mary Of The Assumption Church, Old Forge. After retirement, Alice volunteered for Hospice Of The Sacred Heart until her illness. She loved to travel and work in her garden. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. The family extends their deepest appreciation to the Hospice Of The Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit nurses and staff for their compassion and care and to Dr. Thomas Minora, Dr. Kristin Liptock, and Dr. Christopher Peters. Also surviving are a son Ralph DeMario, MD, Moosic, Tina M. Thomas A. Groncki, 83, a loving husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully Wednesday, January 27, 2016, surrounded by his family in Hospice Of The Sacred Heart, Dunmore. He was the husband of the former Dolores Crapelli and the couple was married for 57 years. Born at home in the Minooka Section of Scranton, he was the son of the late Alexander and Phyllis Ralicke Groncki. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church until its closure and presently was a member of St. Peter's Cathedral. He was a graduate of Minooka High School and completed two years at The University Of Scranton. He owned and operated the former Pittston Tobacco and until his retirement he owned and operated Montage Tobacco. He was formerly on the board of St. Joseph's Center and was a longtime member of Elmhurst Country Club. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and served two years in Japan before being honorably discharged. Tom truly enjoyed golfing and spending time with family and friends. Singing and playing together with his grandson was one of his greatest joys. Also surviving is a daughter MaryAnn Groncki and husband Nicholas Naro, Philadelphia area, and a grandson Kai Alexander Groncki Naro, and nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a sister Mary Filipkowski and brothers Stanley Groncki and Atty. Edward Groncki. The funeral will be Saturday at 9 AM from the August J. Michael J. Smith, 51, a resident of Nanticoke, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon in Lehigh Valley Hospital with his family by his side. He was the husband of the former Sandra Chempamos. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late William E. and Marie Dundon Smith. He was a graduate of Bishop Hannon High School and attended Lackawanna College. He was employed by Meier Supply, Wilkes Barre. Mike was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and was a Green Bay Packer Backer. One of his favorite moments was going to Lambeau Field and having his photo taken by the Vince Lombardi Statue. One of Mike's greatest joys was his custom made Scat Pack Super Bee Challenger. Mike lived his life his way every day. Also surviving are three children Gerilynn Smith, Ian Smith and Tristan Marie Chempamos, all at home and a brother Thomas John Smith and wife Carmela, Roaring Brook Twp., three sisters; Catherine Harrington and husband Bill, Dunmore, Maureen Smith, Allentown, and Sharon Ann Smith, Harrisburg, and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Mary Jean Kerrigan, 82, a Scranton resident, died Sunday morning in The Jewish Home Of Eastern Pa. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late James and Marjorie Kearney Kerrigan. She was a member of St. John Neumann Parish and was a graduate of South Catholic High School. She had a varied professional career including Ruben-Donnelly and the Scranton Times, in advertising, and working evenings at Hess's Department Store, and she retired from the Commonwealth Of Pa, after being employed in the Scranton State Office Building. She was a loving daughter, sister and aunt who was the caregiver to her late mother. She enjoyed traveling the world with her family. Mary Jean's dedication to and love of all her nieces and nephews made each one feel special. The family wishes to thank the staff of The Jewish Home for the outstanding care and compassion given to Mary Jean. Surviving are siblings; brothers Jack, Bob, and James Kerrigan, all of Scranton, Tom Kerrigan, Clarks Green, and sister Marjorie Mazaleski (Edward), Taylor. Vienna Elizabeth Grotzinger, infant daughter of Matthew and Andrea Partyka Grotzinger, Scranton, died Wednesday evening in Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia. Vienna Elizabeth came into the world on January 3, 2016, a perfect little angel, into the arms of her parents, Andrea and Matthew. She left peacefully, all too soon, just three days later, a true angel. In her few short days, Vienna touched the lives of many, from her loving family and their many supportive friends, to the nurses and doctors who cared for her until her passing. Vienna was beautiful and gentle, and her loving heart was felt by all who had the pleasure of meeting her. She will live forever in the hearts of those who loved her. John (Jack) C. Miller, 88, a Moscow resident, died Sunday evening in Moses Taylor Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Catherine White, in 1982. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late John and Hilda Waller Miller. He was a member of St Thomas More, St. Mary Parish, Lake Ariel. He was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and Temple University, School Of Pharmacy. Prior to his retirement, he was employed in pharmacies in Scranton, Hamlin and Newfoundland. He was a veteran of the US Army and was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. Jack was a fine gentleman who will be missed by family, friends and neighbors. Surviving Jack is his cousin Ann Kearney, her daughters; Jack's Goddaughter, Susan Kearney Shoener, and Barbara Kearney Kennedy, all of Scranton, and his nieces and nephews; William, Karen, Barbara, Patrick, Paul and Eileen Coyne and Mark, Michael, Daniel and Ellen Perry. He was a graduate of Holy Rosary High School and was a Navy veteran of World War ll. He was a member of American Legion Post 948. Robert E. McGoff, Jr., 67, a South Scranton resident, died peacefully at home Thursday evening surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the former Marita Nealon and the couple was married for 45 years. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Robert E., Sr. and Mary L. White McGoff. He was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church, St. John Neumann Parish. He was a graduate of South Catholic High School and received his Bachelor Degree from Hofstra University and his Masters from The University Of Scranton. Bob was a retired teacher having been employed by the Scranton School District, Seaton Catholic, Mountain View High School and Pocono Mountain. He coached high school and college basketball and was currently an assistant coach at Kings College. He was also active in many organizations such as Friendly Sons, St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, Scranton Tomorrow, and was inducted into the Northeast Chapter Pennsylvania Hall Of Fame. Bob was also very active in his church being a lector, Eucharistic Minister, Pre-Cana and the Pastoral Council. He was an avid runner and completed 10 marathons and was a 2 time Jeopardy champion. Currently, Bob was president of Scranton City Council. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be deeply missed. Susanna Rossi, 90, a South Scranton resident, died Thursday in Allied Skilled Nursing Facility. She was the widow of Quinto Rossi who died in 2012. Born in Elmhurst, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen Andrekoulich Siscohresko. She attended school in Elmhurst where she was Valedictorian of her eighth grade class before entering high school there. She was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church until its closure and was presently a member of St. Paul Of The Cross Parish. She was employed by several local companies and retired from Snyder Cigar Company where she inspired fellow employees by her speed in packing cigars. Sue and her late husband were active in Prisoner Of War functions. She was an excellent baker and when she donated her baked goods at the 20th Ward Ladies Auxilliary, people lined up to buy hers first. She loved being with her family, especially at holidays, and doted on her great granddaughter, writing poetry to inspire her. Sue enjoyed planting flowers and being in her colorful yard. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed. Surviving is her daughter Donna Crispino, Clarks Summit, with whom she resided the last two years, a granddaughter Margo Azzarelli and husband Dominic, and a great granddaughter Marnie Azzarelli. She was also preceded in death by five brothers; Frank, John, George, Michael and Charles Sisco and four sisters; Helen Tabarrini, Anna Jimmie, Julie Springstein and Mary Patrick and a son-in-law Thomas Crispino. Joseph L. Merkel, 97, a South Scranton resident, died Saturday at Gino J. Merli Veteran's Center. He was the husband of the former Rita Sullivan who died in 1984. Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Joseph and Genevieve Weniger Merkel. He was raised in Dunmore until entering the US Army and fighting in World War ll. After returning home, he resided in South Scranton until becoming a resident of the Gino J. Merli Center. He was a member of St. Mary Of The Assumption Church until its closure and was a graduate of St. Mary's High School. He presently was a member of St. John Neumann Parish. He was employed by Kelly Volkswagon as the parts manager for 37 years. He was a member of the former Post 948, American Legion and Council 11019, Knights Of Columbus. Joe was an avid bowler and enjoyed his summer trips to North Wildwood. He was the kindest, most terrific and wonderful man, always happy and smiling. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Anthony P. Pusateri, Sr., 91, a South Scranton resident, died Thursday in Geisinger VNA. He and his wife, the former Lucretia Cesarini, celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on October 25, 2015. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Severia Ragona Pusateri. He was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church until its closure. He presently is a member of St. Paul Of The Cross Parish. Anthony was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was a retired employee of The Globe Store. After graduation from high school, Tony enlisted in the US Army and served in World War ll as a Staff Sergeant, 775 Tank Battalion, in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the South Scranton American Legion, the South Scranton After 50 Club, where he was a past president, and was an avid bowler and golfer. He spent many happy hours with his son and grandsons at Little League and other high school sports. He also enjoyed music and traveling, but his greatest joy was spending time with family, especially on holidays. Tony was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and brother who will be deeply missed. Josephine Cimini Evans, 99, of South Scranton, passed away on October 21, 2015. Josephine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herschel, who she had shared her life with for 55 years. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria Ferraioli Cimini. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church until its closure and is a member of St. Paul Of The Cross Parish. For many years, Josephine was involved in the operation of the family owned business, Cimini's Bar and Restaurant, as a chef alongside her mother, Maria. Forever the hostess, Josephine continued to extend her hospitality to those close to her by welcoming them into her home, offering food and drink, serving up one of her famous Italian meals, pasta and meatballs, porketta and roast beef were among her specialties, along with chocolate cake, biscotti, or pizzelles and exchanging stories. "Mangia, Mangia!" was her mantra. Josephine was also employed as a Teacher's Aide for the Scranton School District. In addition to her passion for cooking, throughout her life, Josephine enjoyed going for rides through the country with Herschel, watching QVC, playing bingo, gaming at the casinos, maintain and decorating her home and playing with her dog, Benji. Josephine is survived by her son Joseph Evans and wife Barbara, Scranton, who have been her caretakers, three grandchildren: Barbara and husband Bruce, Joseph and wife Evelyn, and Mark and wife Tracey, seven great grandchildren: Mark, Jessica, Joseph, William, Alaina, Michael and Sophie, a brother, Frank A. Cimini, a sister-in-law, Irma Cimini, three nieces: Ann Marie Vorhees and husband David, Mary Francis Cimini and Barbara Blackledge, and a nephew Joseph Cimini. Hugo J. Brozzetti, 97, a South Scranton resident, died Sunday in Mountain View Care Center. He was the husband of the late Joanne M. Gillette Brozzetti who died in February, 2011. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Eugenio and Lodovica Bartinelli Brozzetti. He was a member of St. Paul Of The Cross Parish. He and his late wife founded and operated Hugo's Vending and Hugo's Amusements. He was a veteran of the Army in World War ll and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a past president of UNICO and was their Man Of The Year in 1978. Hugo was a generous supporter of St. Francis Parish and the Boy's Club. He was famous for donating tickets to busloads of Boy's Club members so that they could attend St. Francis Church's Pasta Dinner. He was an avid New York Yankees fan. Hugo was devoted to St. Ann. She was formerly employed by Scranton State Oral School. Mary Theresa was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Ellen Reidy Finnegan. She was a devoted member of St. Peter's Cathedral. She and her family formerly resided in Hawley for many years where she was a member and employed by Queen Of Peace Parish. Formerly, she and her late husband owned and operated a 7-11 store in New York for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be deeply missed. Surviving are five sons; James, Robert, Glen and wife Sheryl, Gregory and Kieth, and a daughter Dawn Kempinski, and two sisters; Irene and Beatrice, seven grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She loved spending time with her family and pets. Cyril T. Byron, 90, a South Scranton resident, died Monday morning at Scranton Health Care Center. He was the husband of the former Dolores Werner who died May 10, 2005. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late John and Margaret Conway Byron. He was a faithful member of St. Mary Of The Assumption Parish until its closure. He was presently a member of St. John Neumann Parish. He was a World War ll veteran serving the 2nd Marine Division in the Pacific Theatre. He was educated at St. John The Evangelist High School. He was employed as a sheet metal worker at Anemostat Products, Scranton. After retirement, he worked part time for Sheeley's Drug Store and William Edward Florist. He was a longtime member of St. Mary's Parish Club. Cyril was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother. He enjoyed his home improvement projects and was always willing to lend a hand to others. Affectionately known as "Mearsy" to his family, he especially enjoyed entertaining the children with his magic tricks. He will be deeply missed by all. She was the widow of John (Jack) O'Malley who died in 2014 and the couple was married for 63 years. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Lena Grey Weis. She was a member of St. John Neumann Parish and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She was a retired employee of the former Oppenheim's Store. Alice was very active in Nativity Church's Altar and Rosary Society, enjoyed working the bingo and volunteering at the annual summer festival. She was also a member of the Morning Glory Quilting Club and she and her late husband volunteered for Meals On Wheels for over 20 years. She enjoyed travelling to Ireland and Canada. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed. Irene D. Doria, 100, of South Scranton, died Thursday at Riverside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Taylor. She would have celebrated her 101st birthday on September 25. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Angelo J. Doria on May 23, 2005. Born in Scranton, one of 12 children, Irene was the daughter of the late Vincent and Stella Caponi Ceccacci. She attended public schools and was a member of St. Paul Of The Cross Parish, St. Francis Of Assisi Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was dedicated to her faith, praying the rosary daily and attending St. Mary's Novena. She was also devoted to St. Jude and Padre Pio. Irene was a kind, caring and loving mother and great grandmother having devoted all her life to her family. An excellent cook and baker, her "Noni" cookies were loved by all of her grandchildren. She shared her cooking skills at St. Francis pasta dinners. Her wonderful recipes have been passed on for all the family to enjoy. Surviving are her three sons; Joseph and wife Virginia, Bethlehem; Vincent, Naples, FL, and Nicholas and wife Evelyn, Springbrook Twp.; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and her niece Lucretcia Cesarini Pusateri, who was as dear to her as a daughter and other nieces, nephews and cousins. Irene was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Stellan; five brothers, Sam, Paul, Edward, Ernest and Quinto, and six sisters; Mary Padeletti, Marianna Padeletti, Tessie Cesarini, Dina Mineo, Pia Mineo, Fortunata Calabrese LaPera and her nephew Joseph Cesarini. Known by the staff as "Bella" because she called everyone Bella or Bello with love. She enjoyed her 100th birthday party given in her honor which made Channel 16 news. The family is grateful to Dr. Thomas Minora and the staff at Riverside for the compassionate care given Irene, especially Barbara. Daniel F. Connolly, 80, a South Scranton resident, died Monday evening at home after a brief illness, surrounded by his family. He is now reunited with his family and God. His wife of 58 years is the former Joan M. McHugh. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Bernard J. and Anna C. Millett Connolly. He was a member of St. John Neumann Parish and attended Scranton Schools. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was employed for 25 years by Millett and Lyons Institutional Foods and he retired from Haddon Craftsmen. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren and his pets and animals of all kinds. The family would like to thank the nurses of Hospice Of The Sacred Heart for all the care given to Daniel. Also surviving are three daughters; Maureen Kaub and Barbara Hopkins, both of Scranton, and Mary Ellen Thorpe, Waymart, two sons; Daniel T. Connolly and James R. Alice Buscarini, 94, died Tuesday evening, surrounded by her family, in St. Mary's Villa, Elmhurst Twp., where she was a resident. She was the widow of Emil Buscarini who died in January 1982 and the couple was married for 43 years. Born September 17, 1920, in Chinchilla, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James T. and Sally Van Horn Hoover. She was of the Protestant faith. Prior to her retirement, she was employed in the food service industry which included her work for Preno's Restaurant, Chick's Diner and Bistocchi's Restaurant Alice had a great personality. She was a vibrant, loving, caring and giving person, very generous and charitable to everyone, but especially to those less fortunate. One of Alice's greatest joys was being with and spending quality time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alice was an accomplished cook and loved to entertain her family and friends. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and went on many cruises. They also loved dancing. She enjoyed playing cards and was an avid reader. Alice was a wonderful loving mother and very special grandmother and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and by all who knew her. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Doctor Robert Kaville and the wonderful professional staff of St. Mary's Villa Nursing Home for their kind, compassionate and excellent care of Alice. Jim retired in 1991 from his career as a case worker for the Pa. Department Of Public Welfare. He was a member of PASR. Jim loved to travel with his wife and was very active in Nativity Church's summer festival, the Friday night bingo, and many other church activities. He was a fan of theNew York Yankees. Jim was very proud of his Irish heritage and still claimed relatives in the Emerald Isle. Yolanda (Yola) Passabi Chiaro, 93, a South Scranton resident passed away Thursday evening, July 2, 2015, at home where she resided with her niece Joanne Trapper, and husband Michael Trapper. Born in Scranton, she was the widow of the late Anthony Chiaro who passed away in 1992. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Ciampoli Passabi. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her nieces and nephews. Yola and her late husband shared many years together in the Minooka Section of Scranton. She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and attended Scranton public schools. Yolanda loved bowling and was a member of the Jet Set League for many years. She loved being with her family and baking. She also loved the penny slots at the casino. Yolanda enjoyed her weekly shopping and lunch trips with MaryAnn Donovan. Yola was a Yankees fan and very much enjoyed watching them on TV. The family would like to thank Dr. Michele Hazzouri for the wonderful care provided to Yola for the last 23 years. Rose Manento, 83, a South Scranton resident, died unexpectedly Wednesday in Giesinger Medical Center, Plains Twp., after being stricken ill. She was the widow of the late Vincent R. Manento, who died in 2012 and the couple was married for 56 years. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Gerardo and Annonziata Giacometti Sollavanti. She was a member of St. Paul Of The Cross Parish and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She was formerly employed by Metkote Laminations and was a member of the Young At Heart Club. Rose was a kind and gentle woman whose generosity knew no bounds. She valued her family above all. She was a valued employee of Metkote and enjoyed her job there so much that she worked there long after her retirement age. She especially enjoyed going to the casinos. Surviving is a son Robert Manento and wife Rachel, Scranton, a daughter Nancy Toscano, Highlands Ranch, CO., four grandchildren; Melanie and Alyssa Manento and Ryan and Nicole Toscano, nieces and nephews. Rosalie M. Stefon, 93, a resident of South Scranton, died Monday in the Jewish Home Of Eastern PA. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Wenzel and Rose Knal Stefon. She was a member of St. John Neumann Parish and was a lifelong member of the former St. Mary Of The Assumption Church until its closure. She was also a graduate of St. Mary's High School and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the South Scranton After 50 Club. She was employed by Williams Bakery until its closure and then by the dietary department of Scranton State Hospital. She was a beloved aunt who will be deeply missed. The family wishes to thank Drs. Jacob J. Susnosky, 96, an East Mountain resident, died Monday in the Gino Merli Veteran Center. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, the former Marion E. Berg Manley. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, the former Mary Sica. Born in Throop, he was the son of the late Charles and Pauline Karnosky Susnosky. He was a member of St. John Neumann parish and attended Archibald High School. He was employed by Crosswood Lampshade Factory as a spot welder for 28 years and then as a security guard for Krayer Detective Agency for 11 years. Jake was an Army veteran of World War ll and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze stars, World War ll Victory Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge lst Award, Honorable Service Lapel Button WWll, and Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Bar. He was a member of Chapter 11, Dickson City DAV and Post 3451 Scranton VFW. He was an avid fly fisherman and hunter and travelled extensively around the USA and Canada with his late wife. Jake was a resident of the Gino Merli Center for the last five months and the family would like to thank the staff there and also the staff of Ascercare Hospice for all the care and compassion given to Jake. Her Italian heritage was an important part of her life, and she cherished the memories of her travels to Italy in her youth. Frank P. Golden, a resident of Roaring Brook Township passed away on Good Friday, following a brief illness, recently diagnosed with lymphoma. He was the husband of Lucille Mitchell Golden and the couple celebrated 55 years of marriage this past October.
Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late Frank J. and Anita Gruzenski Golden. He was a member of Saint Eulalia's parish. He was a graduate of South Catholic High School and attended the University of Scranton. He served his country in the United States Army. He was employed by A&P, prior to opening the firm of Frank Golden Real Estate. Frank was a state certified appraiser and proud Realtor for thirty three years. He was a very active and dedicated member of the Greater Scranton Board of Realtors and the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors, having served on numerous committees, chairman of multi-list committee and 1991 president of Greater Scranton Board of Realtors. He was a District One Vice-President and board of director member of the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors. In 2013, Frank Golden Real Estate joined with the firm of Lewith and Freeman Real Estate. Frank took pride in helping clients complete their dream of homeownership. Throughout the years, he volunteered for many Realtor, church and community causes. He also served as a past president of the North Pocono Minisink Lion and the North Pocono Pre-school. He was a Knights of Columbus member and was active in serving his faith on Saint Catherine's building committees, church picnics and volunteering where needed. A true devotee of Saint Ann, he attended Monday novenas at Saint Ann's Monastery with his life long friend Jack Kelly. Frank was quick with the Irish wit and the life of the party. He lived for and cherished time with his family and friends, especially the holiday traditions. Frank was very fond of traveling with his Lucy, especially to destinations surrounded by water including Hawaii, Ireland, New York City, Costa Rica, Puerto Rica and Canada. Years of enjoyment were spent on the family boat, "The Golden Get-Away" at Lake Wallenpaupak and Gananoque, Canada.
Surviving are three children, Patrick Golden, Springbrook Twp.; Maureen Golden-Edwards and husband Roger; Mary Golden, Roaring Brook Township. Six grandchildren: Colleen Cook, Eileen Golden, Roger Edwards, Edward, Christopher and Kathleen Isbitski. Sister-in law, Anna Mae Martin and husband Gene. Martha Eiden Patrick, 82, a South Scranton resident, died Saturday, April 4, 2015, in Geisinger Mountain View Care Center. She was the wife of Eugene Patrick, Sr., for 61 years.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Leo P. and Martha T. Dickert Eiden. She was a member of St. Mary Of The Assumption Church until its closure and presently was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and attended Anthracite Business School. She was employed by Scranton Plate Glass Co. Martha will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a loving, kind and caring person, but especially by her family for her selfless love, devotion and dedication as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Drs. Monahan and Kondash and the nurses and staff of Geisinger Mountain View Care Center.

Ellen Marie Pricci

Ellen Marie Pricci, a mother and grandmother who for nearly a century blessed her family with love and devotion, died peacefully Friday night at Geisinger Mountain View Care Center, Scranton, surrounded by family. She was 94. Her husband was the late Vincent Pricci, Sr., who died in 2002.
Ellen was born in Scranton on April 23, 1920. She was one of three children of the late Salvatore and Mary Gallagher Sabatini. She was a lifelong resident of South Side and was a graduate of Scranton Central High School. She and her family owned Pricci's Market on Pittston Ave. in South Scranton for over 50 years. The business was her home away from home, always full of family and customers, many of whom were neighbors and friends.
Ellen leaves a long legacy of loyalty, compassion, and dedication to others. For many decades she cooked pasta every Thursday and Sunday for her four children and their families. She cooked from the heart and led by example. To know her was to know what it meant to be a dedicated wife, mother and true friend.
In her younger years, Ellen loved taking cruises with her husband, Vincent, the love of her life whom she adored. She had many interests including bowling and playing Pochino. She was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, and cooked for their annual pasta fundraiser.
Her two favorite hobbies, until the end of her life, were bingo and going to the casino. She would always share her winnings.
Years ago, she would cook a full meal for you if you visited her home. In the nursing home, she would offer anything she had whether it was a box of candy or part of her dinner. She gave all who knew her the gift of unconditional generosity and kindness.
Ellen was also preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Pricci, Sr., her daughter Rosanne Pascuccci, her brother Frank Sabatini, and her sister Marie Machinski.
Ellen is survived by her son, Vincent Pricci and wife Josephine; her daughter Donna Damiano and husband Rocco; her daughter Grace Pricci; her seven grandchildren, her two step grandchildren and her four great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday, March 30, at 9:30 AM from the August J. Haas Funeral Home, Inc., 202 Pittston Ave., with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, St. Paul Of The Cross Parish, 630 Genet St., to be celebrated by Rev. Mary Anne Hetrick, 64, of Hudson, WI, formerly of South Scranton, died Sunday morning. She was the wife of Bruce Hetrick and the couple was married for 17 years. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and C. Ethel Fahey Frable. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She held many management positions with various retailers throughout her business career. Vincent M. Carroll, 75, a lifelong West Scranton resident, died Sunday at Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA. His wife is the former Margaret Schulte Carroll and the couple was married for 57 years. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Vincent J. and Annette Jones Carroll. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and was a graduate of West Scranton High School, Class of '57. He was a retired employee of Pennsylvania American Water. He was a Navy veteran and was retired Staff Sergeant serving with the 365th Engineers Battalion, US Army. Vincent was a member of NERMA Club, was former president of Lackawanna Little league, and Assistant Boy Scout Leader of Jackson St. Baptist Church. He loved hunting, camping and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather who adored his grandchildren. The family would like to thank Drs. Michael Montella and Michael Gilhooley, the ICU nurses and Hospice nurses for all the loving care given to Vince. Also surviving are three sons; Vincent T. Andrew Bernard Yaniga

Andrew Bernard Yaniga, a Dunmore resident passed peacefully on Saturday. His beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Surace Yaniga died on October 30, 2004.
Born in Hazleton area, he was the son of Mary Sabol Yaniga and Joseph Yaniga, Sr. He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and graduated from Hazle Township High School and McCann School of Business.
A decorated World War II veteran, he served two tours of duty as a Staff Sergeant in the Fifth Air Force, Pacific Theater. He flew with the 89th Bombardier Squadron, the "Grim Reapers" A-20 Boston Attack Outfit, which was the oldest team in the Fifth Air Force.
When living in Hazleton area, he was a founding member of the Hazleton Philharmonic Society, president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and on the board of "Can-Do Hazleton Business Initiative." He sang in the Philharmonic Chorus, played trombone in both a Marching Band and Jazz Quartet.
He began his career in management at Allen's Shoe Store and was recruited by Brown Shoe Company, St. Louis, Missouri to work at Deisroth's Department Store. Promotion led him to the Scranton area as a buyer for several stores on the East Coast and in management of Brown Shoe Company's lease shoe departments in the former Globe Store. He actualized an exemplary work ethic reflected in his motto, "Better Your Best."
After his career move, Andrew became a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore and participated in its Holy Name Society and Sacred Heart Club. He also served as Lector and Eucharistic Minister at many local Churches, including St. Peter's Cathedral, St. Ann's Basilica, All Saints Church, Immaculate Conception Church, and St. Casmir's Church. In addition, he devoted time to visit many senior homes as Eucharistic Minister.
Andrew was dedicated to civic service. He served as president of the Serra Club, President of ARC of Lackawanna County, Regional Chairperson of the Keystone Chapter of the American Heart Association and on the Executive Board of the Forest Lakes Council, Boy Scouts of America. He achieved life time honorary board memberships with Lackawanna County ARC, the Deutsch Institute, Lackawanna County Children and Youth Services, Allied Rehabilitation Services, St. Frances of Assisi Kitchen, and the Lackawanna-Susquehanna Counties Mental Health/Mental Retardation Program.
He was active in the Scranton Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Exhausted Roosters Club, UNICO, San Andrea Society, Father's Club of Bishop O'Hara High School, Parent Group of Marywood Seminary and as a patron of the Broadway Theater League of Scranton.
Andrew participated in fundraising for St. Ann's Basilica Memorial Walkway, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, Lackawanna United Fund, Lourdesmont's Annual Golf Tournament and Dream Vacation and capital campaigns for Marywood University and St. Mary of Mt. Carmel's Church.
Andrew's welcoming, warm smile, firm handshake and small acts of sharing, giving, caring, supportiveness and kindness will always be remembered. He lived and loved music, especially when relaxing on his front porch. He was a quick-witted, highly intelligent man, with a positive outlook and spiritual sense of being. He had a great zest for life and was committed to physical exercise and maintaining good health. An avid reader, black and white films, Big Band concerts, dancing, Musical Theater, air shows were among his preferred leisure activities. His family and home were his pride and joy.
He is survived by three daughters: Barbara M. Antognoli and husband John, Rosanne M. Yaniga and Bernadette Yaniga Coco, a son, Andrew J. Yaniga and wife Cecilia, and three grandchildren, Sara C. Antognoli, Colin A. Yaniga, and Colton J. Yaniga. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and two sisters-in-law: Theresa Yaniga and Irene Surace.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Andrew Joseph Yaniga Jr., a daughter Candida J. Yaniga Kalwaytis, a granddaughter, Elisa Ann Kalwaytis, a sister Anna Yaniga Belletiere, brothers Stephen, George, and Joseph Jr. in-laws Bruno and Rosina Surace and brothers-in law Dominic Surace and Paul Surace.
The family expresses sincere gratitude, thanks and deep appreciation to Dr. Lori A. Williams, Janice and Tressa, Traditional Home Health Care, Geisinger CMC, Green Ridge Care Center, personal caregivers Patricia Barnes and Susan Clary.

Michael F. Remish, 68, a resident of South Scranton, died Saturday at Geisinger CMC after a brief illness. Born in Scranton, he was the son of Eleanor Hofmeister Remish, Scranton, and the late Michael Remish. He was a member of St. John Neumann Parish. He was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and Penn State University. Mike was a well known sportscaster who was employed by several radio stations throughout his career. He was the voice of the University of Scranton Royals and covered games for many years of the Red Barons and the Scranton School District at Memorial Stadium. Being a sportscaster was Mike's life passion. He volunteered with Friends Of The Poor and Family To Family. Mike was a loving son, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed. Also surviving is a sister Aleta Sebastianelli and husband LeRoy, Scott Twp., and two brothers; Steve Remish, Quakertown, and Frank Remish, Scranton, several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews. She also enjoyed reading, going to casinos, and spending time with her grandchildren. Anna was a selfless woman who devoted most of her time helping her family members and friends. John J. (Jack) Flynn, 87, a South Scranton resident, died Thursday at Geisinger VNA Hospice. He was the husband of the former Mary Ann Graham Flynn who died August 8, 2000. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late John and Anna Conway Flynn. He was a member of St. John Neumann Parish and was a graduate of Scranton Central High School. He was a WWll Navy veteran serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres of war. He was employed by the Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. for over 40 years. After his retirement, he served as an usher at Lackawanna County Stadium and as a ranger at Pine Hills Country Club. John F. "Buddy" Brazill, 35, a resident of Scranton, died unexpectedly Sunday at home. Born in Scranton, he was the son of Ann Marie Lafferty Brazill, Clarks Green, and the late Francis M. Brazill. He was a member of St. John Neumann Parish, was a graduate of Scranton High School, and received his BA in History from East Stroudsburg University. He was employed in the sales industry where he utilized his charismatic personality and his gift of engaging people in conversation. John was truly everyone's buddy, always smiling. He was involved in the operation of the Special Olympics at Montage Mountain and was a member of the St. Patrick's Parade Association. For many years he worked the scoreboard at Memorial Stadium. John enjoyed history and long drives to Notre Dame games. He was dearly loved by all and he will be deeply missed. Also surviving are three brothers; Frank M., Patrick J., and Michael E., all of Scranton, and a sister Anne E. Hartshorn and husband Scott, Clarks Summit, two nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Cyril T. Manley, Jr., died Tuesday at Scranton Regional Hospital. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Cyril T. Manley, Sr. and the late Marion Berg Manley Susnosky. He was a member of St. John Neumann Parish and was a graduate of St. Mary of The Assumption High School. Cy was formerly employed by Consolidated Moulded Products, Tobyhanna Army Depot and retired from Geisinger CMC as the Supervisor for Housekeeping Department. He was a member of the 109th Infantry and was a marksman. He made many friends on his daily walks around Lake Scranton. He was an avid musician, fisherman and gardener. Surviving are his twin sister Marion Evanits and husband Julius, Scranton, his brother and caregiver Gerald Manley and wife Cathy, Roaring Brook Twp., his other caregiver, a nephew, James Evanits, Scranton, his stepfather, Jake Susnosky, with whom he resided, and children; James P. James D. McClymer, a resident of East Mountain, died Wednesday at Moses Taylor Hospital after an illness. He died just 11 days short of his 83rd birthday. His partner, friend and companion of 46 years is Anne Kerrigan McCloskey. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Daniel J. and Josephine Summa McClymer. He was a member of St. John Neumann Parish and was educated all across the country as he travelled with his parents. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was first employed in Philadelphia shipyards as an apprentice boilermaker. He later became a certified journeyman boilermaker working in the construction field until his retirement in 1993. He then turned to his other interests of carpentry, cooking, modeling and painting. Jim was truly a Renaissance Man. He was extremely proud of his Scot and Celtic heritage, proudly wearing the Lamont family Tartan. Jim was a sweet, kind, generous and honest man whom everyone loved. He was our world. Also surviving are two sons; Dr. James P. McClymer and wife Kelly, Orono, Maine, and John McClymer, Sarasota, FL., three daughters; Anne Peirce, Ft. Worth, TX., Renee Oleski and husband Charles E, Sr., and Martina Straub and husband Kevin, all of Scranton, two granddaughters Kristen Seatavakan and husband Pete, Novato, CA., and Morgan Elizabeth Straub, Scranton, 10 grandsons; Andrew James McClymer, Novato, CA., Brendan James McClymer, Orono, Maine, Charles Edward Oleski, Jr., Jefferson Twp., Ryan Paul Oleski and Tyler John Oleski, Scranton, Nathaniel Sloan Peirce, Denton, TX., Spencer David Peirce, Ft. Worth, TX., and Connor James Peirce, Dallas, TX., Shane Andrew McCloskey and fiancee Colleen Morgan, Dunmore, and Rory James McCloskey, Scranton. Rosalie Reif Steinmetz, 92, a resident of South Scranton passed away on December 16, 2014. Born in South Scranton on August 2, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Josephine Lutz Reif and Edmund H. Reif, the former Lackawanna County Commissioner. Rosalie was a graduate of St. Mary's Assumption Grade School and High School, Class of 1940 where she was active in musical and theatrical productions. She attended Marywood College where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Performance with a minor in elementary education as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching with a Guidance certification. Following in the Reif family tradition she took to music and acting and was an expert viola player and vocalist. Prior to marriage she was an active performer at various local masses, concerts and musicals. In addition, she was a conductor for various musical productions and concerts presented by her college and later the St. Mary's Players. She starting her career teaching Kindergarten in the Noxen and Scranton public schools. After a break to give birth to 4 children, she spent the last fifteen years of her career teaching third grade at St. Mary's Assumption Grade School and leading the music program for the school and the CCD program for the parish. She was an active member of St. Mary's Parish until its closure and was a lector and Eucharistic Minister as well as a leader of the Catholic Woman's Guild, Altar and Rosary Society and After 50 club. She served these groups at various times as president, vice president or treasurer and thoroughly enjoyed being the toastmaster at various club events and holiday parties.
She loved her family and especially the love of her life, her husband, Edward Steinmetz, who passed away on October 30th, 2014. She missed him dearly and has now gone on to be with him again. They met through their beloved St. Mary's Church and were married for 60 years. In retirement, they traveled extensively, volunteered their time in numerous parish related activities and enjoyed being grandparents. She was an excellent mother and ensured her children worked hard at school and were active in a variety of activities. She passed on her leadership qualities, inquisitiveness and love of music and learning to her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by sisters Marcella Reif, Scranton and Sr. Edmund Joseph S.C.C., Mendham, NJ. She is also survived by daughter, Mary Jo Enkulenko and husband Tom, Roaring Brook Twp., and sons, Jim and wife Karen, Mountaintop, Ed and wife Barbara, Roaring Brook Twp., and Dave and wife Jeanie, Wyckoff, NJ. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Steinmetz Walsh and husband Jim, Roaring Brook Twp., Brian Enkulenko, Scranton, Jason Steinmetz, Scranton, David, Tim and Daniel Steinmetz, Wyckoff, NJ, Michele Steinmetz, Orlando FL, Eric Steinmetz, Roaring Brook Twp. and Will Enkulenko, Roaring Brook Twp.; as well as two great grandchildren, Jason and James Walsh, Roaring Brook Twp. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Cyril Reif and Edmund Reif and an infant grandson. The funeral will be December 20th at 9:30 AM from the August J. Fred (Fritzie) Scholz, 81, a South Scranton resident, died Friday in Geisinger VNA Hospice after a brief illness. His wife is the former Sarah ( Sally ) Quinn. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Margaret ( Peggy) Philbin in 1990. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Peter and Mary Sohns Scholz. He was a member of St. Peter's Cathedral and was a graduate of St. Mary Of The Assumption High School. He and his late father owned and operated Scholz's Garage in South Scranton until his dad's death, afterwards, Fritzie owned and operated the garage until 1990. He then was employed for 22 years by Morrell's Towing. He served during the Korean war in the US Army. He was an avid golfer and bowler. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and stepfather who will be deeply missed. Also surviving are three daughters; Diane Heim (Robert), Archbald, Margaret Bonno, Clarks Summit, Nancy Brown (Bobby), Factoryville, and two sons; Paul Scholz (June), Scranton, and John Scholz, DE., stepchildren: Nancy Zumchak (Greg), Jane Grzenda, Jacqueline Samsell (Joseph), Mari Cummings (Tom), Karen Lalley (Paul), and John Phillips, Jr. (Michele), 14 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Scholz and a sister and brother-in-law Louise and Willie Snyder, a son-in-law Carl Bonno, and two step grandchildren Kaylee Phillips and Paul Samsell. Marie M. Maellaro, 89, a resident of South Abington Twp., formerly of Scranton, died Friday in Geisinger VNA Hospice after an extended illness. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Josephine Cantone Maellaro. She was a member of St. Peter's Cathedral and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Prior to her retirement, she was a master seamstress employed by the Globe Store, providing many a bride with a perfect fit. She was formerly a member of the Scranton Choral Society. She loved to travel, especially to visit her family in Bari, Italy. She enjoyed visiting casinos and attending plays in New York City. Surviving are cousins including James Cantone, Montrose, also her Godson, and her caretaker, Gloria Rizzo, Dickson City. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jennie A. Troiani. Dolores M. Hines 84, a South Scranton resident, died Thursday at Geisinger Mountain View Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband William J. Hines in 2009. Born in Throop, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Sholkosky Slaboda. She was a member of St. John Neumann Parish, South Scranton and was a graduate of Columbus School in Throop. Her primary occupation was as a homemaker, especially raising her two sons. In her younger years she was employed by Waite & Bond Co. The family wishes to thank The Hospice of The Sacred Heart for their compassion and care and special thanks to the Bella Bay staff of Geisinger Mountain View Care Center for years of loving care especially Cheri, Faith, Betty, & Michelle. While a resident of Mountain View Care Center, she enjoyed bingo, religious services, and live musical entertainment weekly.
Surviving are two sons, William P. Hines, caregiver, Scranton, Joseph K. Hines of Vallejo, CA, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Slaboda. Leonard G. DeStefano, 86, a South Scranton resident, died Wednesday in The Jewish Home Of Eastern. Pa. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Ubaldo and Vincenza Fiore DeStefano. He was a member of St. John Neuman Parish and attended Scranton Technical High School. He was the owner and operator of Leonard's Deli in South Side and retired from the A&P. He was a member of the Nativity Social Club and the 606 Club and was an avid Notre Dame fan. He was a loving brother and uncle who will be deeply missed. Norma Buscarini Pendell, 89, a resident of Pottstown, formerly of South Scranton, died Saturday at home. Her husband of 61 years is Donald Pendell. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Mario and Louise Cremense Buscarini. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was employed locally by Brooks Stock Market Exchange. After her marriage, she and her husband, a member of the US Navy, moved several times across the country due to his Naval career. The couple settled in Ridley Park, Pa., and resided there before moving to Pottstown last year. She was a devout member of St. Madeline's Church and she traveled extensively with St. Matthew's After 50 Club. Norma was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who dedicated her life to her entire family. She will be deeply missed. Norma and her sisters and extended family vacationed together yearly at the Jersey Shore. For the last year, she greatly enjoyed living next door to her grandchildren. Also surviving is a son John Pendell and wife Karen, Pottstown, and a daughter Donna Cericola and husband Ken, Bucks County, two grandsons; John Pendell, Jr. and Anthony Pendell, both of Pottstown, a sister Violet Ceccaci, Scranton, and nieces and nephews. Edward J. Steinmetz, Sr., 93, a resident of South Scranton passed away Thursday, October 30. Born in South Scranton, he was the oldest son and middle child of the late Anthony and Mary Hillerman Steinmetz. He was a graduate of St. Mary Of The Assumption Grade School and High School, Class of 1939 and attended St. Thomas College, now the University of Scranton. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish until its closure and was active in the Legion of Mary and After 50 clubs. He possessed a strong work ethic and followed his father into work as a boiler maker apprentice with the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad. He served in the Navy on the USS Luzon in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Upon returning home he started a long career as a non-union inspector at the Trane Company until his retirement in 1984. Never one to sit still, he loved to work around the house and tend to his vegetable garden and grape vine, harvesting fruits and vegetables and producing home made wine. He was a devout Catholic and staunchly Pro-Life. He always lent a hand to those in need and was a consistent volunteer at a variety of parish functions including serving as a lector, Eucharistic minister and curator of the parish cemetery. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching sports of all kinds but especially Notre Dame Football and the New York Yankees. He regularly volunteered for many of his children's activities. He was a master craftsman of pinewood derby cars helping his children regularly win this competition with his innovative designs and was an excellent baseball coach, having won Little League Championships in 4 of the 7 years he coached. He was also Treasurer of the South Catholic / Bishop Klonowski High School Father's Club.
He loved his family and especially the love of his life, Rosalie Reif, who he met through his beloved St. Mary's Church. In retirement, they traveled extensively and he assisted in her various volunteer activities throughout their married life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Roberta E. Gordon, 85, a South Scranton resident, died Monday in Commonwealth Hospice Of NEPA. She was the widow of the late Arnold J. Gordon who died in 2001. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Wilhelmina Bohrer Englehardt. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She was a member of Trinity United Church Of Christ and she was formerly employed by the Globe Store and in the local banking industry.
Roberta enjoyed reading the paper, working crossword puzzles and loved playing cards with her "adopted grandchildren." Surviving is a niece Debbie Nowakowski and Roberta's caregiver and friend, Lisa Mann and her children Josh and Marina. She was also preceded in death by two brothers Ernest H. and David Englehardt.

Claire Mary Reidenbach, 91, a South Scranton resident, died Monday in Regional Hospital with her loving daughter, Marian, at her side. She fought a courageous battle for the last 19 years and will enter the loving arms of her late husband, Fred, who died in 1998.
Born in Scranton, Claire was the daughter of the late Edward and Clara Mehl Killian. Claire was a loving and wonderful Mother and Grandmother and devout Catholic. She was a member of St. Paul Of The Cross Parish and was a member of St. Mary Of The Assumption Church and its Altar and Rosary Society until its closure. She regularly attended St Ann's Solemn Novena and had a great devotion to St Ann.
Claire was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and a member of the South Scranton After 50 Club. The family would like to thank Tammy and Dawn for the loving care given to Claire. Claire touched the lives of many people and will be missed greatly. God rest her soul.

Malvina was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and loved nothing more than to laugh with and care for her grandchildren and great grandchild. Malvina was a great Italian cook, and her family always looked forward to Sunday afternoons when they would gather together around the dining room table to "break bread" and enjoy her homemade pasta dinners. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her daughters; Barbara Boyd and husband Augie, Julie Kortawy and husband Joseph, and Carla Haas and husband Robert, all of Scranton; grandchildren Kelly Miller and husband Erik, Kimberly Boyd and fiance Pat Noone, Michael and Matthew Kortawy, Danielle Haas and fiance Al Karaffa, Nicole Haas, and great grandchild Max Benjamin Miller; and a sister Lillian Rose; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Julio Cacciamani, Jr., who died December 14, 1960; three sisters, Florence Liberty, Mary Miele, Edith Genovese; and one brother Patrick Mastro.
Malvina's family would like to thank the amazing nurses and aides of the 2nd floor staff at the Jewish Home Of Eastern Pennsylvania for their extraordinary care and compassion to Malvina and her family during this time. We are also grateful for the comforting care provided by Hospice Of The Sacred Heart.
The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 AM from the August J. Haas Funeral Home, Inc., 202 Pittston Ave. with Mass at 10 AM in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, St. Paul Of The Cross Parish, 630 Genet St., to be celebrated by Rev. Scott Sterowski, Pastor. Interment Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 AM, before the Mass.
